Terms of Service

The Service is available only to verified independent contractors, licensed tradespeople, and field-service employees who perform work at residential or commercial properties. You must be 18 or older and legally authorized to work in your trade. Homeowners, property managers, and anyone seeking to review themselves or their own property are not eligible to register.

You must provide accurate registration information including your legal name, valid contact details, trade category, and either a license/registration number (business owners) or current employer (field-service employees). We verify submissions before granting posting privileges. We may revoke verification at any time if we discover material inaccuracies, evidence of impersonation, or violations of these Terms.

You retain ownership of the reviews and information you post ("User Content"). By posting, you grant Karen's List a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, index, distribute, and back up your User Content for the purpose of operating the Service.

For every review you post, you represent and warrant that:

• The factual statements in your review are true to the best of your knowledge and based on direct, firsthand experience with the customer you are reviewing.
• Opinions you express are your honest assessment and are clearly distinguishable from factual claims.
• You have a good-faith basis for every assertion of fact and can produce supporting documentation (invoices, communications, photographs) on reasonable request.
• You are not posting on behalf of an undisclosed third party and are not posting in retaliation for protected activity.
• Your review does not disclose private information beyond what is necessary to identify the customer (name and, optionally, phone number).

You may not post content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or that incites violence; that contains a homeowner's Social Security number, financial account numbers, photograph, license plate, or other personally identifying material beyond name and phone; that targets a person on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin; or that you would not be prepared to defend as truthful in a court of law.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Karen's List, its operators, contractors, and affiliates from any claim, demand, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to User Content you post, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law. This obligation survives termination of your account.

Anyone may request removal or correction of content via our takedown request form. We review every request and respond on a content-neutral basis. Submitting a takedown request under false pretenses may constitute perjury and exposes you to liability under applicable law.

We moderate the Service for violations of these Terms and for unlawful content. We do not edit the substantive content of User Content, do not curate or rank reviews to promote a particular message, and do not solicit specific types of content from users. Decisions to remove content are made on a content-neutral basis in accordance with these Terms and our published policies.

The Service is provided "as is." Karen's List makes no representations regarding the accuracy of User Content. We are not the publisher of User Content; reviews reflect the opinions and experiences of individual contractors. We expressly disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Karen's List be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any direct damages will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, for suspected fraud or abuse, or as required by law. Your indemnification obligations and the limitation of liability survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute arising from your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. You agree that the Texas Citizens Participation Act (TCPA), Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code Ch. 27, applies to any claim challenging protected expression on the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service and take effect 14 days after posting, unless required to be effective sooner by law. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
